first_imgJob DescriptionThe Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) is seeking aHuman Resources Manager. Reporting to the Dean, the Human ResourcesManager is specifically responsible for managing operational andstrategic activities at VTCSOM in accordance with universitypolicies and procedures. These responsibilities include, but arenot limited to, performance management, compensation analysis,recruitment, employee relations, talent development and planning,coordination of training, and human resources analysis andreporting. The human resources manager collaborates with the Deanand Vice Deans and other VTCSOM faculty to develop staffing,retention, recognition, performance planning, organizationaldesign, and career development plans to address future needs of theschool of medicine. Further, the incumbent will oversee all humanresources processes for the school. This role is located inRoanoke, but is responsible for liaison back to Division of HR onthe campus in Blacksburg.Required Qualifications• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, HumanResources, Organizational Development or related field, orBachelor’s degree with significant related professionalexperience.• HR experience as an HR Manager or HR Generalist providingguidance to management in a large/complex organization.• Demonstrated experience in multiple functions such asstaffing/recruitment, compensation, employee relations, rewards andrecognition, and performance management, and organizationaldevelopment.• Demonstrated proficiency with office software such as MicrosoftWord, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.• Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills.• Ability to work independently as well as with diverse,collaborative teams.• Ability to make independent decisions and solve problems.• Ability to prioritize and manage workload.Preferred Qualifications• Experience in an academic, medical, and/or complex researchenvironment.• Experience with large relational databases and online applicanttracking systems such as Banner and Page Up.• Experience interpreting policies and procedures in a largecomplex organization.• Professional Human Resources designation such as SHRM orSPHR.Appointment TypeRegularReview DateMarch 15, 2021Additional InformationThe successful Candidate will be required to have a criminalconviction checkAbout Virginia TechDedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve),Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking ahands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to beleaders and problem-solvers.
