first_imgJob DescriptionReporting to the Assistant Director for Occupational Health andSafety, the Industrial Hygienist develops and implements industrialhygiene programs to address the evaluation and control of healthhazards for employees of Virginia Tech. Serves as subject matterexpert concerning chemical and particulate industrial hygieneevaluations and controls, and acts as a consultant to theuniversity community for related issues.Required Qualifications• A degree in industrial hygiene, safety engineering, or closelyrelated discipline or training and work experience equivalent to anadvanced degree.• Must be able to obtain Certified Industrial Hygiene Certificationwithin 3 years of employment• Experience working as an industrial hygienist.• Demonstrated knowledge of interpretations, technical principles,practices, and procedures used to comply with industrialhygiene-related OSHA regulations and industry standards.• Experience with respiratory protection regulations and fittesting protocols.• Working knowledge of a variety of sampling techniques includingasbestos/lead sampling and assessments. Experience developing andproviding employee training programs.
