This position will use Workday and othersupporting technologies to complete their responsibilities. Thisposition may also supervise student workers.Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce andparticipates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful,inclusive, and welcoming work environment.Essential FunctionsStudent Employment (70%)As a member of the payroll and student employment team thisposition will engage in all aspects of the bi-weekly payroll anddaily student employment processes with a concentration in studentemployment. This position will support the Smith communitythroughout the full Student Employment process, answer questions,explain procedures, and train students and managers in theseprocesses. This position must understand and enforce the college’spayroll, student employment, and Work-Study policies. Payrollresponsibilities include understanding and validating complicateddata elements, data entry, and the review of system generated anddata entered by others. This position will use Workday and othersupporting technologies to complete their responsibilities.Payroll (20%)Process all aspects of the payroll in a timely and accurate mannerwhich includes data entry, running processes, and distribution ofchecks/notifications. Assist employees in the completion ofemployment forms, including Form I-9, W-4, State Withholding andDirect Deposit. Work closely with human resources, provost officeand other departments to ensure that timely and accurate data isreceived, audited and processed. Process periodic and quarterly taxfilings with OSV, reconcile discrepancies, and work closely withthe OSV to validate data and the accuracy of agency filings. Auditpayment requests for accuracy and proper authorization. Respond toinquiries and problem solve. Assist in the year end processing ofForms W-2, 1042S and 1099. Prepare and review payroll reports asnecessary. Serve as a back-up for the payroll process.Other FunctionsOther Duties (10%)Support account reconciliations and other accounting processes.Participate in month-end and quarterly closing processes. Supportthe controller’s team with special projects, fiscal year-end audit,Form 990 preparation, IPED, NACUBO, and other submittals. Scan,file, and other administrative tasks.
