The advising protocolsare a critical component of the unit’s efforts to offer students’strong personal and academic development support to advance studentprogress and persistence. The unit provides a continuum of programinitiatives and services to promote a successful collegetransition, student development and self-efficacy, academic andpersonal success, engagement, timely graduation, and lifelonglearning from the first year to graduation. In addition, the unitworks collaboratively with university and community stakeholders tosupport freshman retention; expanded learning and academic supportservices, intervention activities and events, building the studentsuccess culture, and enhancing pathways to timely graduation.ECSU invites applications for an Executive Director of StudentSuccess and Retention.  The Executive Director willprovide oversight and supervision to academic advising, academicsupport services and retention within the Department of UniversityStudies. This role will provide strategic direction, operations andoversight of all three areas in order to create a seamlessstructure to support retention and persistence practices at theinstitution. This position serves as the point person forfirst-year advising services, academic support resources, retentionand completion practices. The Executive Director is alsoresponsible for monitoring the overall student population’sadvancement toward degree completion and graduation rates in orderto develop a plan for improving student retention and graduationrates. Additionally, the position will serve as a liaison betweenUniversity Studies and major departments to build opportunities forthe unit and faculty collaboration for retention and persistencepartnerships. Occasional work may be required beyond normal workinghours which includes evenings and weekends.Requirements: A Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, aspecific discipline, or a related field with a minimum of fiveyears of experience (5+ years preferred) working in retention,academic recovery and support, student success, academic advising,teaching, and/or within other student success initiatives. Threeyears of supervisory experience is required.
